UN Representative: Iraq is at a Critical Juncture and Continues to Support Stability

The United Nations Secretary-General’s Representative in Iraq, Mohammed Al-Hassan, emphasized during his speech at the Seventh Baghdad International Dialogue Conference that Iraq and the Middle East are experiencing a pivotal phase that requires collective efforts to strengthen security and stability.

Al-Hassan highlighted that Iraq is determined to advance regional stability, leveraging its long history of constructive dialogue. He stressed that the country needs national consensus, bringing together all parties under the umbrella of Iraq’s supreme interests.

He praised Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani’s vision for developing services and enhancing security and stability, reaffirming that the United Nations remains a committed and active partner in Iraq’s path toward stability and development.

He stated, “Iraq is determined to continue supporting stability, security, and national unity.” He added that “Iraq needs constructive dialogue based on respect for differing opinions, fostering a deep love for the homeland among Iraqis, and focusing on the future to build a strong, secure, and stable country.”

Al-Hassan further noted that “Iraq, with its long history, requires a constructive dialogue centered around one fundamental point: the national interest.” He emphasized that Prime Minister Al-Sudani has a clear vision for advancing services and reinforcing security and stability.

He concluded by reaffirming that “The United Nations fully supports Iraq and will continue to stand by its side.”
