Danielle Pletka: The Baghdad Conference Reflects Iraq’s Diversity and Promotes Political Dialogue

During her participation in the Baghdad International Dialogue Conference, Danielle Pletka, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, spoke in a recorded interview published on the Iraqi Institute for Dialogue YouTube channel about the key challenges currently facing Iraq—chief among them being the stability of the political system and ensuring free and fair elections.

Pletka emphasized the importance of strengthening Iraq–U.S. relations, while highlighting the need to limit Iranian influence in order to preserve Iraq’s independence and maintain a balanced foreign policy.

She expressed her satisfaction in seeing democratically elected leaders who reflect Iraq’s rich diversity speaking openly at the conference, praising the transparency and inclusiveness of the discussions, which mirror the complex makeup of Iraqi society.

Pletka also stressed the importance of including diverse perspectives in the conference to ensure that it genuinely represents all segments of the Iraqi population, and she commended the conference organizers for creating a comprehensive and inclusive space for constructive dialogue.
