Dr. Hassan Ahmadian, Professor of Political Science at the University of Tehran, affirmed that Iraq is increasingly playing a vital role as a regional and international mediator by building bridges between neighboring countries and the wider world—an effort that contributes to reducing tensions and promoting joint cooperation.
In an interview with the Iraqi Institute for Dialogue on the sidelines of the Seventh Baghdad International Dialogue Conference, Ahmadian noted that this balanced role places Baghdad at the heart of regional stability. He added that the “Development Road” project between Iraq and neighboring countries, including Iran, represents a strategic opportunity to expand economic cooperation and interconnect regional transport networks.
On the academic front, the Iranian scholar stressed the importance of deepening intellectual and academic collaboration between Tehran and Baghdad, noting that this cooperation remains below expectations despite its vital role in supporting decision-makers and advancing bilateral relations.
