Syrian Researcher: Baghdad Dialogue Is More Than a Conference — It’s an Irreplaceable Intellectual Milestone
Syrian researcher Dr. Isabella Zeidan emphasized that her participation in the Baghdad Dialogue Conference represents an important annual intellectual milestone. She noted that the significance of the conference goes beyond merely presenting research findings, focusing instead on what she described as “the development that stems from dialogue and the exchange of perspectives.”
Speaking from Baghdad, Zeidan said, “This year, the conference comes at an extremely critical time. We are witnessing major and rapid transformations in the region amid widespread distortion of facts—whether through traditional media or even social media platforms.”
She added, “When we can no longer find clarity in the media or public platforms, we turn to think tanks and dialogue institutes like the Iraqi Institute for Dialogue. These platforms confront us with reality as it is and help us understand what we should do—and what we must avoid.”
Zeidan stressed that her attendance from Syria was far from routine, describing it as an academic and intellectual necessity in the midst of today’s complex regional context. She affirmed: “You cannot imagine how important my participation is today, especially amid the epistemological confusion and informational chaos plaguing our region.”
